SES is pleased to announce that it will host the National Science Foundation (NSF) Mechanics of Materials and Structures (MoMS) Program Grantees Meeting on 10/12/25. This meeting will bring together principal investigators (PIs) with active NSF MoMS awards, as well as new assistant professors (or equivalent) who have not previously received MoMS funding, for a half-day workshop on the afternoon of 10/12/25. The agenda is designed to foster an engaging and interactive environment, beginning with opening remarks from NSF MoMS program directors, who will share insights into current initiatives and emerging opportunities in the field. Following these introductions, NSF grantees will present their research in a poster session, providing a platform for peer feedback and constructive discussions. Panel discussions featuring invited speakers will further enrich the program by exploring innovative research directions and addressing key challenges and opportunities. In addition to these formal sessions, various social activities will encourage networking, informal discussions, and potential collaborations.
Poster Abstract Submission Information
Posters must only focus on currently active NSF MoMS-funded research. Abstracts for posters should be submitted through Submission Here before Sep. 1st. PIs with multiple active MoMS awards may submit a poster abstract for each award. PIs are expected to present their own posters at the meeting. A co-PI may submit and present a poster on behalf of the lead PI; however, no other replacement will be accepted.
Poster format
Please use the template to prepare your poster, as NSF would appreciate uniformity. It can be downloaded from here. The poster board size is 36 × 48 inches; please ensure that the longest side of your poster does not exceed 48 inches.
Participation in SES Annual Technical Meeting
MoMS grantees are encouraged to participate and present their work in both the NSF MoMS Grantees’ Meeting and the SES Annual Technical Meeting.
Fees
There is a registration fee of $150. This fee will be used to cover the expenses associated with organizing the grantee meeting and is not part of the SES conference registration. The link for registration is here.
Travel support
With support from the NSF MoMS program, each eligible participant—defined as an active MoMS PI or an assistant professor without prior MoMS support—will receive travel reimbursement for up to two nights of lodging to attend the MoMS Grantee Meeting and the 2025 Society of Engineering Science Annual Technical Meeting in Atlanta, GA. To qualify for reimbursement, awardees must stay at the designated conference hotel, the Hilton Atlanta Downtown.
