Fact (noun): A piece of knowledge or information, representative of truth, and verifiable by a formal proof, based on axiomatic logic, and not necessarily by observations. This definition in itself is paradoxical given the assumption that axioms are equivalent to facts.
MY OPINION: There was a discussion about consensus being important for something to be a fact. However, I believe this was not really true because logic sometimes could be fallacious and unfounded. For example, before the heliocentric theory, everyone believed the Earth was the center of the universe. Therefore, I believe that there is a distinction between belief, observations and facts. Therefore, the above definition is in a way, a philosophical ‘conjecture’. There was a debate on the involvement of intuition and perspectives also. We were also unable to define or discuss the definion of forming modalities given the lengthy discussion on facts.
