Curiosity Lab is a 5G-enabled autonomous and connected vehicle test track and smart city living laboratory, one of the world’s only real-world testing environments where people, autonomous vehicles and smart city technology interact each and every day. The City maintains additional insurance specific to autonomous vehicle testing, data security, and drone operations. In addition to Sprint 5G, Curiosity Lab also features dedicated short-range communication units, smart poles with the capability to test additional smart city technology, a three-way intersection equipped with intelligent traffic lights, and a network operations center featuring video surveillance of the entire living lab. Curiosity Lab was recognized by IDC Government Insights’ Smart Cities North America Awards for its innovation in the transportation space in 2020.
