Could a socially interactive robotic companion affect users’ awareness/inclination to correct their sitting posture? In this project, the “Bendy” team explored how to design and develop a desktop social robot to remind people of their unhealthy sitting posture in real-time. Informed by Scenario-Based Design (SBD) and Movement-Centric Design (MCD), the student team went through an iterative, human-centered design process where co-design workshops, interviews, and online surveys were conducted. The summative evaluation shows the effectiveness and social expressiveness of the “Bendy” robot.
