Dr. Ankita Rathour

Assistant Director and Marion L. Brittain Fellow

Writing and Communication Program

My scholarly interests are primarily Hindi cinema and the materiality of postcolonial violence. As an educator of English writing and communication, I center Global South narratives while encouraging my learners to think critically about imperial materialities and ideologies that shape language. I emphasize global non-Western rhetoric through multimodal texts, including digital media, and have utilized the Hindi film form as a potent tool to analyze meaning-making beyond the white-west realms. As a teacher, my pedagogical priorities are shaped and influenced by bell hooks, Paulo Freire, and Savitribai Phule.
