1. Biolocity U

Educational resources focusing on life science commercialization are provided for faculty, students, post-doctoral trainees, and members of the community through the below opportunities.

Consultation Meetings

Innovators can schedule a 1:1 meeting to discuss the commercial potential of their healthcare technology and learn recommended next steps or connections to local resources.  Click here to request a meeting.
Legal Office Hours
Biolocity offers complimentary counseling and materials to Emory University and Georgia Tech innovators (faculty, staff, students, and alumni) and any start-up companies related to either institution though a partnership with Emory School of Law.
Bench2Market Talks
Biolocity hosts an annual educational series in collaboration with the Georgia CTSA and the Petit Institute for Bioengineering and Bioscience. The series is free and features lectures, panels, and workshops that cover topics critical for technology translation success.
Internship Opportunity

Each funding cycle, the Biolocity program accepts up to four interns to assist with technology diligence and market assessment.

2. Biolocity Fund

Funding is available for biomedical technologies from partner institutes (Emory University and Georgia Institute of Technology). Eligible technology must positively impact human health with compelling evidence of commercial potential. Ideal technologies and therapeutics will have preliminary proof of concept data and a clear path to private sector translation. Additionally, as part of the BARDA DRIVe network, Biolocity can connect health security technologies with funding and resources for development.

A key part of the Biolocity funding application process is the in-depth market diligence created for each technology. Using industry best practices and venture capital methodology, we identify each project’s commercial potential and recommend the appropriate commercialization model. Applicants that are not selected for final funding still benefit from this research and receive a copy of the diligence reports created for their technologies.

3. Biolocity Launch

Technologies selected for funding receive active project management and mentorship to assist in meeting the commercialization milestones created during the application process. Awardees attend bi-weekly meetings which offer the opportunity to meet with consultants on project specific goals to accelerate their technology development.

Formalized coordination with the biotechnology commercialization ecosystem provides awardees with  access to resources including incubators, accelerators, and connection with entrepreneurial talent.  These efforts combined help lower barriers to translation of academic technology to the private sector.
