United Airlines’ headquarters is in the Willis Tower (formerly known as the Sears Tower) in downtown Chicago. United offers a variety of internship programs for undergraduate and graduate students. Many students interested in revenue management work in the Revenue Decision Support Group which helps design, test, and implement new approaches in Gemini, a revenue management system that United developed internally.
The Analytics and Innovations Department at United also supports four to eight summer internships for graduate students in operations research and statistics who are in their second or third year of a doctoral program. Many interns have prior coursework in machine learning and artificial intelligence. Because the Analytics and Innovations Department partners with different groups throughout the company, interns are exposed to a variety of areas including network planning, revenue management, sales and loyalty, and many operations areas.
