Biography

Shreyas Srivathsan is a PhD Student in the Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering at Georgia Tech. His interests lie in urban air mobility (UAM) vehicles, especially VTOL aircraft. His research is focused on experimental aerodynamics in this field and he is passionate about trying to understand the fundamental physics in order to help propel the field into the future.

Outside of research, Shreyas is a huge foodie who loves to explore new places and cuisines (which he likes to replicate in his own kitchen). He also enjoys playing and watching sports and chess, and just generally hanging out with friends.

Shreyas tries to live his life based on one equation:
Tasty food + great people + beautiful places = good moods + fun times + lifetime memories.

Research

Shreyas is working on experimental rotor wing aerodynamic interactions, predominantly in the Harper Wind Tunnel. The experiments capture rotor–wing interactions in the wind tunnel using a combination of PIV, load, and pressure data to try and characterize the flow field around a rotor–wing setup under various conditions. The tests try to encapsulate most of what a VTOL or UAM may encounter in their flight regimes such as multirotor configurations, transitions regimes, and dynamic changes in flight parameters.
