Georgia Tech students may take courses at other institutions either during a summer, fall or spring semester and transfer these credits back toward their degree requirements. Your last 36 hours must be taken
in residence – this does not apply to official GT study abroad programs
How will I know which courses will count?
The Transfer Equivalency table found in Buzzport provides students with a full listing of classes that may be transferred in from other institutions: Click here to view
- Courses must be completed with a grade of C or higher (regardless of minimum grade needed if taken here)
- You may not transfer credit for a course for which you received a final grade (excluding W)
- Per new rules effective Summer 2022, courses may be either online or in-person
- Courses that are not fully equivalent will be listed with an X in the course number for example (PHYS 2XXX) does not equal PHYS 2211
- Course hours provided in the tables; be cautious to ensure the course will provide the same number of hours needed at GT. Consult the Registrars if unsure if a credit can be utilized.
- Please see http://registrar.gatech.edu/students/transfercredit.php for full rules and regulations pertaining to this policy.
How do I start the process?
You must first contact the Registrar or Office of Admission for the school you plan to attend. A NON-DEGREE or TRANSIENT admissions application should be completed (please note, this is different from a Transfer Admissions application). Deadlines, fees, and course availability must be determined through the secondary school. You may be asked for a verification letter. To obtain this:
- Log into Buzzport,
- Registration/Student Services
- Registration-OSCAR
- Student Services& Financial Aid
- Student records
- Verification Requests.
If you have questions about this, contact the GT registrar comments@registrar.gatech.edu
How WILL I RECEIVE CREDIT?
Credit will be awarded only after a final transcript is received from the secondary institution. You should request a final transcript to be sent as soon as the term ends to:
Georgia Institute of Technology
Office of the Registrar
Transfer Credit
Atlanta GA, 30332-0315
