The Shell ChBE Student Ambassador Program at Georgia Tech was founded to create a community of students responsible for representing the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering to the school and greater communities.
Shell ChBE Student Ambassadors play key roles in each semester of the year. In the summer, Ambassadors are the student face for newly matriculating first-year students and their families at FASET (Familiarization and Adaptation to the Surroundings and Environs of Tech). Ambassadors are present to serve as student panelists for all new parent to answer questions with the goal of providing information and easing anxiety. Ambassadors engage with both students and parent at the FASET lunch provided courtesy of Shell. This allows casual interaction and, again, develops a sense of community among the new students. ChBE provides satellite registration support for our incoming students, and Ambassadors serve as assistants, sharing their experience and insight with the new students.
Shell ChBE Student Ambassadors serve primarily as student representatives for the school in the fall and spring. They provide tours for prospective students and families as well as for visiting VIPs and alumni. They are frequently selected to serve on council or panels when students are requested to provide insight and input on the school.
Shell is credited throughout the FASET orientation as the supporter of this program. All newly selected and trained ChBE Ambassadors are also aware of the funding and support provided by Shell, and they are encouraged to engage with the company when events are held on campus.
