This collection of eight cherished family recipes is more than a record of delicious meals; it is a celebration of heritage, memory, and connection. In Chinese culture, the number eight holds special meaning, symbolizing prosperity, and good fortune, thus I chose eight recipes to discuss as I took a walk down memory lane.
Each dish reflects a theme woven into my Chinese American identity, highlighting authenticity, comfort, resilience, and love. Together, this collection weaves the story of my upbringing as a Chinese American, told through the lens of food and the family recipes that shaped me.
