Adam Thomas
My name is Adam Thomas! I grew up in Falls Church, VA, and attending undergrad at Georgia Tech studying Aerospace Engineering. After College, I got a job doing Attitude Control in Los Angeles, California. This past year, I switched roles to become a Flight software engineer, where I am primarily in charge of writing algorithms and tools to execute payload functionality and communicate between hardware units, as well as integrate units. I am currently on the Cichlid CV team, working on the hybrid data collection pipeline and a cross-species identification model. In my free time I love playing volleyball and surfing!

Charles Clark
My name is Charlie Clark, and I’m currently pursuing a Master of Science in Computer Science with a specialization in Machine Learning. I have a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics and Economics from Stony Brook University (2022, summa cum laude). This semester I’ll be working on a novel transformer architecture for image classification and object re-identification (reID) as part of the Cichlid CV team. In my spare time, I enjoy hiking, playing the violin, and exploring the latest advances in AI.

Kailey Cozart
My name is Kailey Cozart, and I am working on obtaining my master’s degree in computer science with a concentration in machine learning via the project/research option. I have an undergraduate computer science degree from the University of Washington Tacoma. I am a part of the Cichlid CV team, and have also been a part of the Higher Education team. In my free time, I enjoy hiking with my daughter and husband, gymnastics, and photography.

Thuan Nguyen
Hi y’all, I’m excited to put my deep learning knowledge to practice with the Cichlid CV project this semester. I can still remember the first “wow” moment when I trained my first MNIST neural network and was in awe: “how could it do that?” I have had many such “wow” moments since!
My career path has been, well, dotted with “highly non-linear activations” 😀 I did my undergrad in New York, then worked in finance and in cybersecurity audit there for a decade in total. Then I moved back to Vietnam to be a journalist, covering world news. Now I teach math and study CS, returning to these passions from high school. It’s a pleasure to meet you all!
In my free time, I love to listen to public radio podcasts from NPR or BBC, listen to audiobooks, practice some Beatles songs on a guitar, or coax my two cats into some playful wrestling.
