Drupal 7 to Drupal 8 migration | Worked on a 3-person team
We followed the process as a team but I was specifically responsible for organizing user testing and designing and implementing the Exhibition Hall Rooms page.
User Testing
For user testing, I developed questions and tasks to find the current issues in the Drupal 7 iteration so that we can design and implement solutions. I also had participants rank the appearance and usability of the pages. To make data collection easier, I created a google form for my team to fill out as we were conducting interviews.
We collected 7 responses.
Tasks:
- Starting from the home page, navigate to the page containing the hours of operation for the Student Center.
- Going from the hours of operation page, navigate to the page containing information for the Student Center’s major activities.
- Going from the major activities page, navigate to the page with a map of West Village.
- Part 1: Going from the West Village map page, navigate to the page containing information about the Student Center Post Office.
Exhibition Hall Rooms
My goal is to give a more modern look, white space, and the amount of scrolling needed for the page. First, I put the buttons in a horizontal row so that the page is more symmetrical and it took away the white space under campus services. Second, I organized the room list into 3 columns instead of 2 which greatly reduced the length of the page. I want to highlight the room list is a content type. I created a form in which content managers can fill out and a thumbnail view will automatically generate and be added to the room list. Additionally, a room page will be generated from the same form which includes room description and gallery.
