
Abhishek Jain is from Delhi, India. He graduated from BITS Pilani in 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, along with a Minor in Physics. His early research experiences include exploring inertial systems used in satellites during an internship at the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and conducting astrophysics research at National Central University, Taiwan. His undergraduate thesis focused on Optical Trapping using Nanostructures at the University of York, UK. Since then, he has been a researcher in the field of engineering light-matter interactions at nanoscale. He has done research apprenticeships at Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) Mumbai and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur.
Abhishek is pursuing a PhD in the Photonics Research Group (PRG), having joined in Fall 2023. His research focuses on optical designs for Reconfigurable Integrated Photonics using Phase Change Materials. Outside the lab, he likes to play squash, go for a run or swim, and cook.
