Tianren Fan

Tianren received his B.Sc. in Optical Engineering from Zhejiang University in 2014. He joined the Photonics Research Group at Georgia Tech as a Ph.D. student in Fall 2014. Tianren was the recipient of the 2020 Colonel Oscar P. Cleaver Award for the most outstanding Ph.D. dissertation proposal in the ECE department. He also received the 2020 Outstanding ECE Teaching Assistant Award. Tianren had two internship experiences at Finisar Corporation (Summer 2019) and imec USA (Summer 2020).

Tianren has over seven years of experience in photonics research at universities. He is dedicated to simulating, fabricating, and characterizing ultra-fast, ultra-low-power, and ultra-compact integrated photonic devices and subsystems in hybrid multilayer CMOS-compatible material platforms (e.g., SiC on insulator, III-V on Si photonics, graphene on Si photonics, SiN on SOI, phase change material on Si photonics, etc.)
