Georgia Tech EMS is Born

EMSaT is founded as a student group by the name of Georgia Tech EMS. The initial founders met to discuss their vision for a collegiate EMS group.

October 15, 2019

Name Changed to EMS at Tech

To adhere to requirements from Georgia Tech about the naming of student groups, GT EMS renames itself to EMS at Tech.

June 23, 2023

EMSaT Becomes a Registered Student Organization

After submitting a charter to the Center for Student Engagement, EMSaT becomes an RSO. This enables it to dramatically expand its operations through access to funding, tabling, and other RSO resources.

November 15, 2023

First CPR-athon

EMS at Tech holds its first-ever CPR-athon. The event would go on to become a semesterly occurrence, and a predecessor to EMSaT’s CPR certification program.

August 19, 2024

EMS at Tech Goes Operational

Following multiple years of discussions between EMSaT, Georgia Tech Police Department, Campus Services, Stamps, and Grady EMS, EMS at Tech receives approval to support 911 operations on campus. This is carried out through a contract-based partnership with Grady EMS, the primary 911 provider for Fulton County.

September 04, 2024

CPR Certification Program Launches

To increase the number of CPR certified people on-campus, EMS at Tech launches a CPR certification program in partnership with GT Fire-Safety and the CRC. The partnership ensures ready access to free CPR certification for any campus community member interested in learning it.

Beyond the Timeline

If we listed out every important date or event for EMS at Tech, the timeline above would stretch for quite a while. In the interest of condensing the page, here’s a mere highlight of some other cool stuff we’ve done over the years.

First NCEMSF Conference Attended

GT EMS sent two members to the National Collegiate EMS Foundation conference in February, 2022. Two years later, EMSaT sent six members to the 2024 conference nearly fully funded.

EMSaT Partners with ROTC

On September 11, 2023, two members of EMS at Tech joined the ROTC in an early-morning stair climb in honor of the victims of 9/11. The following year, EMSaT and Army ROTC held a joint TCCC training event, sparking a continuous relationship between the organizations. This has since continued with annual 9/11 stair climbs and regular joint events.

GTSF and Parent’s Fund

EMS at Tech is awarded both the Georgia Tech Student Fund and Parent’s Fund in 2023-2024. The former was put toward equipment for EMSaT’s semesterly CPR-athon, while the latter was used to launch EMSaT’s CPR certification program.
