This week’s episode of The Underground Podcast hones in on the myths and traditions related to popular universities around the world. The focus of this episode is on Georgia Tech, a popular college in the heart of Atlanta, named “S_olen” With the help of our guest speaker, Evan, we were able to learn and speak about certain traditions that can be seen as harmful and toxic for both the community of Georgia Tech and the individuals involved with the traditions. The episode’s central theme is around societal pressures to withhold information about other individuals’ crimes. We dive deeper into this topic by connecting this theme to the book, The Secret History, where the main characters, Richard and Bunny, both struggle with this societal pressure and handle it in their own ways. Evan is kind enough to explain to us a situation that has been held over his head since his first steps onto the Georgia Tech campus. A situation that societal pressure influenced Evan’s relationship with his friends heavily and changed how he looked at them in the future. This episode is filled with emotion, comedy, and life lessons that will hopefully leave you with a bit of insight into how societal pressures shape our youth and how you can control your future.
