Ziad joined the Fernandez Lab as a post-doctoral fellow on May 2022. He obtained his MS degree in Advanced Spectroscopy and his Ph.D. degree in analytical chemistry from the University of Lille, France under the supervision of Dr. Christian Rolando. His Ph.D. thesis focused on the depolymerization and analysis of different families of natural and synthetic insoluble polymers using catalytic depolymerization and FT-ICR high resolution mass spectrometry. Ziad’s main postdoctoral work focuses on chemical evolution to create novel chemicals and systems of chemicals that under variable environmental conditions, without the use of extant biological components, evolve into new structures having new functions using multiple analytical methods.
