I Love the USG Teaching and Learning Conference

Last week I attended the USG Teaching and Learning Conference in Columbus, GA. It was my second time attending the conference and once again it was an incredibly useful and well organized event with plenty of opportunities to network and learn new practical skills in teaching in the higher education space. This year the event had an even larger number of sessions on the use of AI in designing curriculum, developing new workflows and ways of thinking about the role of technology and AI in higher education.

I also presented a gave a 5-minute infographic poster presentation on some of the work I have done with a very talented group of undergraduate students at GT. The questions and feedback I received were very helpful in moving our project along! A copy of our poster as a PDF file is below.

Award for Poster Presentation at the 2025 Career, Research, and Innovation Development Conference

Congratulations to Ayushi Chakrabarty who won an award for work she presented at the 2025 Career, Research, and Innovation Development Conference last week!

She presented work we did together on developing a method categorize student survey data in large enrollment courses using natural language processing and large language models.

I’ll put the poster below. We’d be happy to answer any questions that folks have about our work.

More details about the event and the award in this news story.

Open Course Project Presentation at the 37th Annual MECS Conference

It was an honor to have been able to co-present on the Open Course Project at the 37th annual Mathematics, Engineering, and Computer Science conference last week. This conference was held at Perimeter College in Clarkston, GA. Myself, Stephanie Reikes, and three of our amazing student assistants were there to give an overview of the current status of our project, which included a link to our new (and in development) project website.
