The Holmes v. Atlanta case, decision, and implementation was chronicled by many prominent local, national, and African American newspapers. Coverage of the historic first days of desegregated golf in Atlanta featured headlines such as:

    • “Atlanta Received Final Order to Desegregate Public Golf Courses at Once,” Atlanta Daily World, December 23, 1955.

    • “Segregation Barriers Fall at City Golf Courses Without Incidents,” Atlanta Daily World, December 25, 1955.

    • “Negroes Play Golf Without Incident on 2 City Courses,” Atlanta Journal Constitution, December 25, 1955.

    • “Desegregated Public Golf Opens in Atlanta Today,” Chicago Tribune, December 24, 1955.
