Human-Augmented Analytics Group – Summer 2024 Semester Report

In the Summer 2024 semester, the Human-Augmented Analytics Team piloted 14 credit based OMSCS research projects dedicated to 6 core applications from the biological and social sciences.  We currently have 1 accepted submission and 5 additional anticipated OMSCS publications by December 2024, our average student grade performances was 102%, our average (surveyed) faculty satisfaction rating was 100%.

Key highlights:

  • Launch of role-based research community structure. Effective use of student-researchers in the scaling of projects.
  • Expansion of faculty hosts and research domains
  • Successful completion of 4 project contracts, and successful transfer 3 of multi-semester projects.

While we faced challenges due to computational resource constraints, our use of collaborator resources, internal resources, and volunteer research combined with expert student management aided us in overcoming these limitations. Looking ahead to our second semester, we anticipate continued growth of our interdisciplinary faculty affiliates, focused on scaling our project offerings to 30-60 students.
