In 2020, Professor Dr. Ingeborg Rocker founded the Integrated Innovation Circular Economy Lab & Think Tank (I2CE) in Boston, Massachusetts. The I2CE Lab fosters interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary Design Innovation practices leveraging advanced research and design technologies for the development of theoretical frameworks and applied design solutions. All projects  foster social, environmental, and economic sustainability. Since 2022, Rocker joined the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, where she served from 2022–2023 as Chair of the School of Architecture, and from 2023–2024 as Chair of the Undergraduate Sustainability Education Committee (USEC). In 2023, Rocker founded and currently chairs the Georgia Tech–based I2CE Lab and Think Tank in Atlanta.

The philosophy of I2CE is to deliver innovative yet implementable solutions through the collective expertise of a transdisciplinary team. The I2CE Lab’s work spans across both education and research, . It acts as a transdisciplinary engine driving next-generation regenerative systems and circular economy innovation.

The Lab works closely with industry partners, government entities, local communities, and students at Georgia Tech. In Spring 2024, the Lab launched the I2CE Vertically Integrated Project (VIP) program, engaging over 30 students each semester in transdisciplinary education and research. Since Fall 2024, the Lab has successfully onboarded both on-campus and external mentors, strengthening academic–industry and academic–practice collaboration. In 2025, the Lab received multiple competitive grants, including support from the Dassault Systèmes Foundation, to advance, scale, and sustain its education and research initiatives.
