GT Accounts for Applicants

This page describes the accounts used by people applying for admission to Georgia Tech as an undergraduate or graduate student. If you’re accepted and confirm that you’re going to attend Georgia Tech, you should also read our page on GT Accounts for Incoming Students

At a high level, applicants to Georgia Tech prepare and submit their application with an Admissions Account but might also use a Georgia Tech-specific account (called a GT Account) to apply for Financial Aid or Housing. While this GT Account can be claimed and set up any time after 24 hours of submitting the application, we suggest doing it early so that any problems do not cause your Financial Aid or Housing applications to be late.

Details about the setup of GT Accounts for Undergraduate and Graduate Applicants:

  • Applicants use Admissions Accounts to prepare and submit their applications.
  • Once the application is received, a GT Account username is created for them, based on their name. This takes about a day.
  • Applicants should receive a message from Georgia Tech with directions on how to establish their initial GT Account password.
  • Applicants use passport.gatech.edu/activation/select-affiliation to claim their GT Account and set their initial password.
  • Most of the ongoing application process continues to use the Admissions Account, but the GT Account is important for Financial Aid and Housing applications.
  • Finally, as applicants are accepted and their first semester approaches, all course registration, advisor scheduling, and almost all other services will use the GT Account.
