Research

The mission of the Center for Immunoengineering at Georgia Tech is to create breakthrough engineering tools, methods and solutions for personalized and predictive health-care in patients with particular focus on the following three Grand Challenges:

  • Ability to rapidly provide a comprehensive immunological status of a patient
  • Ability to quantitatively predict immune function in a patient and
  • Ability to precisely modulate and control the immune response of a patient

The center’s goal is to improve human health, in a personalized and predictive manner, through the application of innovative technologies to clinically relevant problems. Disease targets currently being investigated by Center Researchers include infectious diseases such as HIV and hepatitis; autoimmune disorders such as diabetes and lupus; improving clinical transplantation protocols; cancer; inflammatory conditions such as device-associated infection, arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease.
