Categories

    1. Cooking a Japanese dish while giving instructions in English
    2. Cooking any dish while giving instructions in Japanese

Participant’s requirement

Category 1: You, as well as everyone in the video, must be a current Georgia Tech student.

Category 2: You must be a current Georgia Tech student and you must have taken a Japanese class within the last two years.

Guidelines

    • Make an original video explaining how to cook a dish.
    • The length of the video should be 5 to 20 minutes.
    • The video should be uploaded to YouTube and the Visibility must be set to “Unlisted.”
    • All of the images and music used in the video must be copyright free.
    • The submitted video will be listed on the contest blog, and it might be used for Georgia Tech’s Japanese program promotion.
    • Submission deadline: Saturday, November 7, 2020 1pm EST

*If you need special ingredients for your Japanese dish, our collaborator Wagaya Grocery Store is happy to assist you. Just ask the Japanese lady at the store to help you locate what you are looking for and she will be able to help you. Wagaya Grocery Store is located at 349 14th St NW Suite D, Atlanta, GA 30318. Submission Guidelines

    • Please submit in the following form
    • YouTube video title should be: (Name of your dish) – GT Japanese cooking video contest
      • e.g.) Katsudon – GT Japanese cooking video contest  OR  かつ丼 – GT Japanese cooking video contest
    • Please add the following in the description: “This video is participating in Georgia Tech Japanese program cooking video contest. Please see the details of the contest on the contest site: https://sites.gatech.edu/japanesecookingvideocontest/”
    • If you would like, you can add more to the description, such as a detailed recipe.

Prizes

Category 1

      • 1st Prize: Wagaya gift card ($100) + Japanese cookbook (written in Japanese)
      • 2nd Prize: Wagaya gift card ($50)
      • 3rd Prize: Wagaya gift card ($15)

Category 2

      • 1st Prize: Wagaya gift card ($100) + 2 Japanese cookbooks (written in Japanese)
      • 2nd Prize: Wagaya gift card ($50) + 1 Japanese cookbook
      • 3rd Prize: Wagaya gift card ($15) + 1 Japanese cookbook
      • Special Prize (x2): Japanese cookbook

Judging criteria (30 points in total)

    • Japanese faculty points (10): Judging by the creativity and clarity
    • Sponsor points (10): Judging by the creativity and attractiveness
    • Viewer points (10): Number of views and likes (this will be a weighted average of the views and likes). The video viewed the most will receive 10 points, the next most viewed will receive 8 points, then 6 points, 5 points, 4 points, 3 points, 2 points,  and then finally 1 point. (The number of views and likes will be counted on December 7th)
