People Meet Our Project Team! Seung-Eun ChangCo-Project Lead Seung-Eun Chang earned a Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Texas at Austin, specializing in Phonology and Phonetics. Her research interests include theoretical and experimental Phonology & Phonetics and Korean Linguistics. Several influential linguistics journals have published her work, including Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, Language and Speech, International Journal of Bilingualism, and Heritage Language Journal. She is also working on the area of media and culture in language learning. She is the author of “Media, Culture, and Debate in Korean (2021).” Keung Yoon “Becky”Co-Project Lead Keung Yoon “Becky” Bae is Assistant Professor of Korean Studies at the School of Modern Languages. Her most recent research examines the relationship between media production and the state in Korea, specifically looking at imperial regulation of colonial Korean cinema and the relationship between state and industry that was established at this time. She has published a chapter on the status of South Korean esports in an anthology titled Media technologies for work and play in East Asia, as well as an article on the advent of South Korean webcomics.
