BIO:
Yuguo Tao received his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering and M.S. degree in Power Machinery Engineering from Tianjin University in China, and Ph.D. degree in Photovoltaic Engineering from University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. Prior to joining in the LANNS group in 2019, he was a Research Engineer at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Georgia Tech since 2011.
RESEARCH:
Dr. Tao is currently a Senior Research Engineer with the LANNS group led by Dr. Erickson. His primary research focus is on high-performance silicon photomultipliers for photon sensing and next-generation radiation detection sensors for nuclear nonproliferation. He supports and assists Dr. Erickson in the overall management, execution and operations of the Enabling Technologies and Innovation consortium (ETI) as well as the LANNS group R&D activities. His main responsibilities include keeping tracking research progress, generating periodic reports (monthly, quarterly and annual) to sponsors, establishing and updating the website content, communicating with students & faculty at lab visits, supporting & facilitating lab work, developing innovative technologies, publishing & presenting research findings, mentoring students, writing proposals, co-teaching courses, and directing the day-to-day activities as needed for LANNS group.
