BIO:
Tao received his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering and M.S. degree in Power Machinery Engineering from Tianjin University in China, and Ph.D. degree in Photovoltaic Engineering from University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. Prior to joining in the LANNS group in 2019, he was a Research Engineer at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Georgia Tech since 2011. In his free time, he plays basketball, watches NBA, or takes care of his family.
RESEARCH:
Tao is a Senior Research Engineer at Nuclear and Radiological Engineering and Medical Physics (NRE/MP), focusing on the development of advanced sensors and instrumentation for nuclear nonproliferation, including but not limited to high-performance silicon photomultipliers (SiPM) and novel 3D solid-state neutron detectors. In addition to excelling in teaching & service, Tao also manages and supports the overall execution and operations of the Consortium for Enabling Technologies and Innovation (ETI) and the ETI2.0 consortium, as well as the LANNS group’s R&D activities.
