Check out our latest NSF-sponsored research on humor in the engineering classroom on March 29th at the National Conference of the Association of Applied and Therapeutic Humor, in Orlando Forida.
Our paper “Humor Applied to STEM Education,” with David Hu and Lew Lefton, was accepted for publication in the Journal of Systems Research and Behavioral Science. Using cognitive load theory we explain the humor is more effective in STEM education when it is integrated into the educational example (b) rather than just added so as to increase the extrinsic cognitive load (a).
