School of Computer Science Graduate Student Association (SCS-GSA)
I’m serving as the Student & Faculty Affairs Chair for the academic year 2023-2024. The SCS-GSA is a community hub for SCS, and represents the graduate student body of the School in all matters concerning academics, welfare, administration, social activities, and other matters specific to graduate students.
I strongly believe in collective action and cooperation between graduate students, faculty and administration to create an enjoyable and equitable graduate student experience. We have diligently worked with the SCS administration to actively improve student’s well-being, including increasing stipends, organizing social, academic and career events, mentoring new students and participating in new faculty recruitment.
The PhD years are immensely demanding, and often isolating. Fostering solidarity and kinship between students and cultivating avenues of communication and mutual respect with faculty and administration is paramount.
