Research Grants and Awards Received

  • Peeta is or has been PI/Co-PI for over 70 competitive grants totaling $48 million dollars, including collaborative cost-share funding for USDOT UTC projects.
  • In 2017, Dr. Peeta was part of two multidisciplinary teams that were funded. The first is a $5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy through the ARPA-E Program. The second grant for $300,000 was a winner in the 2017 Discovery Park Big Idea Challenge.
  • Peeta is the Purdue PI and Associate Director of the USDOT Center for Connected and Automated Transportation, the Region 5 UTC awarded by the USDOT in 2016 for a 5-year period. Purdue University, along with the lead institution University of Michigan, is the major partner university of the CCAT Center. Purdue’s CCAT funding for 2016-2017 (Year 1) and 2017-2018 (Year 2) is $1.64 million each, out of the $5.15 million funding each for 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 for CCAT.
  • Peeta is PI for a competitively selected USDOT regional university transportation center (NEXTRANS Center). Details of the Center and Dr. Peeta’s role are provided in the next section on “Centers, and Interdisciplinary and Collaborative Research.”
