Indentation Simulation of a Skin-like Viscoelastic Material

Skin exhibits unique viscoelastic properties, possessing both elastic and viscous characteristics, making the measurement of its mechanical behavior increasingly essential in the fields of healthcare, cosmetics, and robotics. I conducted spherical indentation simulations using ABAQUS by modeling skin as a generalized Maxwell model. I identified inconsistencies in existing formulas when applied to viscoelastic materials and proposed a novel approach using Prony series and contact stiffness to measure viscoelasticity.
