Faculty Coordinator
Lily Cheung
Prof. Cheung earned her B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Rutgers University in 2008 and her Ph.D. from Princeton University in 2013. She spent four yeast as a postdoctoral researcher at the Carnegie Institution for Science before joining the ChBE faculty in 2017. Her current interests include the use of high-throughput quantitative techniques and mathematical modeling to advance our understanding of how metabolic and gene regulatory networks interact to control plant growth. She is the recipient of an NSF NPGI Postdoctoral Fellowship in Biology and an NSF CAREER Award.
Graduate Mentors
Tania Evans
Tania received her BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) in 2018. At Georgia Tech, she is advised by Dr. Krista Walton. Her research focuses on the development of metal-organic frameworks for selective adsorption of acid gases in industrial gas streams. She has a particular interest in science policy, earning a graduate certificate in public policy and a Sam Nunn Security Fellowship during her time at Georgia Tech. Outside of academics, she enjoys fitness, reading, and plant-based food.
Marco Avendano
Marco is a Chemical Engineering PhD student at Georgia Tech. He earned a BS from the University of Houston and MS from Texas A&M University in Chemical Engineering. He is advised by Dr. Matthew Realff and co-advised by Dr. Sankar Nair, and works in the application of process systems engineering for the scale-up of separation technologies for biofuel production. Besides the success program, he is also actively involved with the Office of Hispanic Initiatives at Georgia Tech and in his free time he enjoys playing and watching soccer. He is originally from Colombia.
