Tableau Licensing FAQ
How do I get an Explorer license?
To receive an Explorer license, you must be a Tableau developer for a unit/department that has been onboarded as a tenant on the GT Tableau Server. See Tenant Onboarding to learn more.
How do I get a Creator license?
Units can request a quote for new Creator licenses by contacting ea-tableau@office365.gatech.edu.
Note: New Creator licenses will be prorated from the purchase date to May 31st.
Can I transfer a Creator license to another user?
Yes! Tableau Creator licenses can be reassigned to other users as needed. Please contact ea-tableau@office365.gatech.edu to request a license be reassigned.
Can I purchase a license through other Tableau authorized resellers?
While you will still be able to activate Tableau Desktop with them, Creator licenses purchased through other means are incompatible with the GT Tableau Server. Thus, you will not be able to publish your work to share beyond your local computer or connect to any published data sources on the server.
How can I renew my annual Tableau Creator license?
All GT Tableau Creator licenses are co-termed from June 1 – May 31 annually. When it comes time to renew, the USG Tech Store will issue renewal quotes to all purchasers of existing licenses for the next annual cycle. At this time, purchasers can adjust the number of licenses needed. If commitment is not made by the renewal deadline noted in the quote, the licenses will not be renewed and must be requested as new licenses following June 1.
