Welcome to the Georgia Alpha Chapter of Tau Beta Pi!

We are Georgia Tech’s chapter of America’s oldest and most prestigious engineering honor society. Our membership is comprised of those students of exemplary character and scholastic achievement from all departments and schools under Georgia Tech’s College of Engineering. We host networking and professional development opportunities for our members in collaboration with our corporate sponsors and the Atlanta alumni chapter. We aim to give back to our local community through service events, and we are excited to resume for the 2023 Fall semester. We also partake in social events, often in collaboration with other honor societies on campus.

About Us

Founded in 1885 by Edward H. Williams at Lehigh University, Tau Beta Pi is the oldest engineering honor society and the second oldest collegiate honor society in America. Georgia Tech’s Georgia Alpha Chapter was founded on February 6th, 1925, and our offices reside in Tech Tower.

We are an organization committed to excellence, honesty, and ethics in the engineering profession. We find that there are 4 fundamental principles through which we, as engineers, may uphold to maintain and advance the integrity, honor, and dignity of our respective fields of engineering. These principles are provided below.

  • Using knowledge and skill for the enhancement of human welfare
  • Being honest and impartial, and serving the public, employers, and clients with fidelity
  • Striving to increase the competence and prestige of the engineering profession
  • Supporting technical societies of our respective disciplines

It is through these principles that we seek to pursue the mission set forth in our creed, “Integrity and Excellence in Engineering,” as specified in the Constitution of the Tau Beta Pi Association
