The Brook Byers Institute for Sustainable Systems is Georgia Tech’s interdisciplinary research institute dedicated to creating a sustainable future for all, grounded in Georgia and global in impact. As a key Georgia Tech hub for interdisciplinary sustainability research and education, BBISS prioritizes creating linkages between researchers in all disciplines towards the achievement of UN Sustainable Development Goals. Its primary focus areas are climate science, solutions, and policy; ecosystem and environmental health; resilience and regeneration; sustainable resource and material use; and AI for sustainability.
Ray C. Anderson Center for Sustainable Business

The Ray C. Anderson Center for Sustainable Business, anchored in the Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business, acts as a catalyst and connector, bringing together students, research faculty, companies, and entrepreneurs to create an environment where business-driven solutions to sustainability challenges can take shape and thrive.
Drawdown Georgia Business Compact
Facilitated by the Ray C. Anderson Center for Sustainable Business, the Drawdown Georgia Business Compact is a business-focused collaborative initiative focused on galvanizing climate action in Georgia. The Compact builds on comprehensive solution research and ensures diverse participation across Georgia’s economy.
Serve-Learn-Sustain
Executive Faculty Co-Director (2015 – 2023)
Launched in 2015, the Center for Serve-Learn-Sustain (SLS) led and coordinated the integration of sustainability and community engagement into Georgia Tech’s undergraduate curriculum across all of its six colleges. The program came about through a campus-wide Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), required for Georgia Tech to retain its accreditation. In July 2021, as the five-year plan came to an end, Georgia Tech earned a commendation from SACSCOC for “exceptional execution” of the QEP, stating that SLS served “as a model of how a QEP can transform an academic culture.” As part of the institutionalization of the QEP, SLS became the Center for Sustainable Communities Research and Education (SCoRE), housed in BBISS to expand its community engagement work to the research enterprise.
The New York Climate Exchange
Board of Directors (2024 – present)
The New York Climate Exchange (NYCE) is a nonprofit organization selected in 2023 to develop a first-of-its-kind center for climate solutions on Governors Island. Anchored by Stony Brook University and leveraging key partners including Georgia Tech as a founding partner, The Exchange engages in climate research, education, and workforce development to address pressing local and global climate challenges. Its work focuses on three key areas: unlocking access to climate data across sectors, building urban resilience, and creating a leading hub for climate finance innovation. The Climate Campus, opening on Governors Island in 2029, will serve as a living laboratory targeting net zero in energy, water, and waste.
Alliance for Research on Corporate Sustainability

The Alliance for Research on Corporate Sustainability (ARCS) is a partnership among academic institutions created to provide data and networking opportunities to facilitate research on corporate sustainability. As environmental issues have grown in complexity and scope, there is growing recognition that to gain ground on our most pressing environmental issues will require the proactive engagement and leadership of the business sector. ARCS helps develop greater understanding of the opportunities and limits of policies and strategies to create sustainable businesses by facilitating rigorous academic research.

INFORMS is the leading international association for professionals in analytics, operations research, and management science. INFORMS serves a vibrant community of academics, researchers, consultants, and industry practitioners who are solving complex problems and developing innovative solutions across diverse sectors including healthcare, supply chain management, finance, sustainability, and technology. Through its scholarly publications, conferences, and educational initiatives, INFORMS advances the development and application of analytical methods that improve operational processes, enhance decision-making, and create positive impact in organizations and society.
INFORMS MSOM Society
President (July 2012 – June 2013)
The Manufacturing and Service Operations Management Society (MSOM) promotes the enhancement and dissemination of knowledge, and the efficiency of industrial practice, related to the operations function in manufacturing and service enterprises. The methods which MSOM members apply in order to help the operations function add value to products and services are derived from a wide range of scientific fields, including operations research and management science, mathematics, economics, statistics, information systems and artificial intelligence. The members of MSOM include researchers, educators, consultants, practitioners and students, with backgrounds in these and other applied sciences.
Production and Operations Management Society

Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) is an international professional organization representing the interests of POM professionals from around the world. The purposes of the Society are: 1) to extend and integrate knowledge that contributes to the improved understanding and practice of production and operations management (POM); 2) to disseminate information on POM to managers, scientists, educators, students, public and private organizations, national and local governments, and the general public; and 3) to promote the improvement of POM and its teaching in public and private manufacturing and service organizations throughout the world.
