Students from all majors and skill sets are welcome and strongly encouraged to join! This course is open to participants at all academic levels, from first-year undergraduates to PhD students. If you have experience in, or simply a deep curiosity about, inclusive design and innovation that supports people with disabilities, you belong here.

What You’ll Experience:

Through an exciting and direct collaboration with our dedicated Rwandan partners from local disability organizations, you will dive deep into the principles of:

  • Co-design: Learn how to collaboratively create solutions with the very people who will use them.

  • Sustainability: Explore how to develop technologies that are long-lasting and environmentally responsible within local contexts.

  • Localization: Understand the critical importance of adapting innovations to specific cultural, economic, and social environments.

You’ll work in dynamic sub-teams, actively contributing to projects that advance locally relevant assistive technology innovation. This course builds on the foundational progress and insights gained since the launch of the GATI VIP in Spring 2024, offering you a unique opportunity to contribute to ongoing, real-world change.
