Diagnosis:
- Rashes are usually small, bluish white spots on a bright red background
- If necessary blood tests can confirm rashes
Symptoms:
- Cough
- Fever
- Red eyes
- Light Sensitivity
- Muscle Aches
- Runny Nose
- Sore Throat
- White Spots inside the mouth
- Widespread Skin Rash
Treatment:
There are no treatments for measles infection but some measures include:
- Obtaining Post-exposure vaccination
- Immune Serum Globulin-antibodies can prevent measles or make symptoms less severe
- Ask your doctor about Antibiotics if a bacterial infection such as pneumonia or ear infection develops
For Immediate Relief:
- Acetaminophen to relieve fever and muscle aches
- Rest to boost immune system
- Plenty of fluids (6-8 glasses of water/day)
- Vitamin A supplements
