- What were the main intellectual goals of the assignment? Please situate these goals in terms of the course theme and in terms of the communication strategies you were to learn or practice.
My main intellectual goals were to send a clear message about my public speaking necessity of improvement as well as my wish to get rid of my accent and to combine these new skills with my non-verbal communication.
- What is your argument or purpose? How did you make the argument or purpose visible and persuasive in your artifact?
My argument was public speaking specifically in English. I exemplified the difficulties I have trying to speak concisely in English as well as the hard time everyone else has trying to understand my accent.
- Who is the intended audience for your artifact; why is this an appropriate audience? How is your choice of audience reflected in your artifact?
The target audience is intended to be my colleagues in ENGL 1101 as well as Dr. Lux, the professor of that course. Everyone else requires a password to access the video but I’m thinking about making it public, that being another brave step towards having the ability to speak in public in English.
- What are the defining features of the genre or media that you are using in this project? How do you make use of these features?
I used multiple filters for the video ( from old-school black and white to 4k quality video ) as well as some voiceovers and text editing in between the scenes. I also added some joyful jazz music in the background and other sound effects.
- If you had more time for revision, what would you change and why?
I would make the video a little bit longer and I would speak slower. Also, I would make sure the sound quality is a little bit better. ( I think I did the best I could with the available technology but I would keep trying to find better solutions to the problem of sound).
