Carpenter Ants

Carpenter ants can cause extensive damage by infiltrating moist areas in frame construction. They need moisture to soften the wood that they feed on and are often seen in residential structures around leaking windows, doors, porches and siding. There may be evidence of frass or sawdust piles, but often damage is occurring unseen. Ants will lay their eggs within the wood. They are long black ants generally larger that ants looking for sugars in kitchens. The damaged wood needs to be replaced and the moisture source removed.
