White Rot
White rot is a fungal attack on wet wood that eats both the cellulose and lingen giving the wood a white hue with stringy fiber-like appearance. With the loss of strength and weight, the wood feels moist, soft and spongy. Infected wood must be removed, replaced with new wood and moisture source controlled.
