Sheldon (Xiaochen) Zhang was born in Nanjing, China, 1988. He received a B.S. degree at Xi’an Jiaotong University and dual M.S. degrees at both Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Georgia Tech. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Georgia Tech. Currently, he lives in Washington DC as a data scientist in Sapientrazorfish.
In graduate school, he was also a member of the advanced computational electricity systems team. He has been involved in a power system planning project, funded by China State Grid, Inc., that integrates the Gansu Wind Farm, the largest wind farm in the world, into the grid. He has also undertaken an enhanced load modeling project funded by the Power Systems Engineering Research Center. His major research interests lie in decentralized power system control, power system planning, and big-data intelligence for the future smart grid.
After graduation, he joined Publicis.Sapient as a data scientist. His daily job including the design of experiments, machine learning, and e-commerce optimization.
