My name is Alex Burgin. I am a PhD student in the School of Math at Georgia Tech.
I did my undergrad at Duke University, where I had the privilege of doing research under Lillian Pierce and Heekyoung Hahn.
I also spent a summer with Budapest Semesters in Mathematics, working with Professor Tamás Keleti and other undergrads.
My current research interests lie in the intersection of harmonic analysis and analytic number theory. In other words, I like to study discrete sets and their arithmetic properties, using harmonic-analytic, ergodic, and probabilistic methods.
I have an Erdős number of 3, and work closely with similar-minded folks in the department, including:
- Professor Michael Lacey (discrete harmonic analysis, ergodic theory, and applications in number theory)
- Professor Alex Dunn (analysis & number theory)
- Professor Ernest Croot (additive combinatorics & number theory)
- Rahul Sethi (harmonic analysis, convex geometry, number theory & geometric measure theory)
- Tobias Wang (harmonic analysis, probability theory, and PDEs)
- Junzhe Mao (number theory & additive combinatorics)
