Strategic Direction: Adapt & Accelerate
Adapting to a Changing World
Spring 2021
Our world is changing and so is the College of Engineering.
Today, we are adapting to life during a global pandemic, keeping the health and well-being of our community as the top priority. We’ve developed new methods of hybrid teaching to keep faculty and students engaged. Our research operations have safely continued, fueling technological innovation across the Institute. And, the call for change in the face of social inequities across our nation has prompted the College to reexamine what it means to be truly inclusive, not just in our words, but in our actions.
In the face of unprecedented change, our community has pivoted, coming together to accomplish amazing feats and overcome challenges believed to be insurmountable. To me, this is the definition of resilience. I am proud to be part of a community that has met each problem with a solution, to not just survive it, but to thrive in spite of it. It’s what engineers do.
As the landscape and expectations of higher education continue to change, the College must clarify and focus our direction for the future. Our Strategic Direction guides how we can better serve our students, support our community, and foster innovation across the College. We will remain resilient as new challenges come our way, nimbly adapting with a strategic plan that not only guides our College, but changes with us. Further, our plan remains closely aligned with the Institute’s mission to develop leaders who advance technology and improve the human condition. We echo Georgia Tech’s core values of impact, innovation and access, which serve as guiding principles as we establish the commitments of the College.
The College is successful because of its people, and we hope you will join us in turning this Strategic Direction into a reality as we look to a brighter future.
Sincerely,
