About Our Project

Hello and welcome! This website was created for our group’s artifact 3 project in our ENGL 1102 class at Georgia Tech with a focus in “Archives that matter”. For our website, we analyzed a multitude of sources all related to the development in architecture as technology advanced. Some of the primary sources that we analyzed were architectural plans spanning roughly 100 years. More specifically, some students here at tech might be interested in the original plans of the Bobby Jones Golf clubhouse, dating back to the 1950’s. 70 years later we can look at the plans of the recently completed Kendeda building and show just how different these plans are.

Our website is directed towards anyone interested technologies’ effect on the processes of building the structures we inhabit around the world. This group of people is not large, so we structured our information in a manner that’s intriguing to experts in the field, but also easy to understand for any audience member without previous knowledge. With this in mind, students at Tech might be interested in the development of architecture on campus in the last 70 years. Technology has changed processes rapidly and architecture was no exception to this development. The primary goal of our research is to show how and why architecture has changed due to the development of these technologies and a couple possible directions for its future.
