ChBE Safety Committee

• Appointed by the School Chair
• Consists of several faculty, staff, and the two GSSC student co-chairs
• The committee oversees all aspects of safety culture in ChBE, including the working of the GSSC

ChBE Graduate Student Safety Council (GSSC)

• Reports to the Safety Committee
• Consists of 1 graduate student from every active research group (i.e., more than 30 members)
• Members appointed yearly by their research advisor
• The GSSC has 2 graduate student co-chairs with 2-year terms
• The GSSC is divided into 3 working groups, each with a group leader

GSSC Inspections Group

• Performs full inspections of all (100+) ChBE labs on rotating basis
• Provides written feedback to the lab PIs

GSSC Communications Group

• Produces biweekly safety moments/updates for ChBE newsletters, signage, and other safety-related materials
• Maintains the ChBE safety webpage

GSSC Analysis Group

• Analyzes ChBE incident reports and near-miss reports, and provides written feedback 
• Encourages increased near-miss reporting
