The Student Cluster Competition (SCC) is an immersive 72-hour high performance computing (HPC) challenge as part of the Supercomputing Conference Series.
For SC20, the competition has moved to the cloud to accommodate remote participation, becoming the Virtual Student Cluster Competition (VSCC).
With sponsorship from our vendor partner, Penguin Computing, Team Phoenix will design and build virtual clusters in the Microsoft Azure cloud, learn scientific applications, and apply optimization techniques for our chosen cloud configurations. The team of Georgia Tech students will compete with competitors from around the to complete a set of benchmarks and real-world scientific workloads from Nov. 8 to 11.
