Feel free to ask a current grad student to serve as an ambassador to meet with potential applicants. Many of our GRAs have done classroom visits and are well-versed in the program specifics. You can also feel free to ask FLAS fellows, as they are not working part-time in the program and may have more flexible schedules.
Dear (NAME),
Thank you for your interest in our programs! I’m thrilled to hear that you’re thinking of applying and would be happy to speak with you about your interests, career plans, and how the program might fit your needs. I would also encourage you to talk to our current students and learn more about their experience. I’ve copied (GRAD STUDENT NAME, EMAIL) on this email, who is completing the M.S. (GMC/ALIS) in (LANGUAGE) this year.
To get started on your application, please check out our admissions page and download our application checklist: https://grad.modlangs.gatech.edu/apply
Applications are due February 15th, with a priority deadline of January 15th. If you are applying for funding opportunities, I encourage you to apply by the priority deadline. We do not required the GRE; we just request two letters of recommendation, a personal statement, official transcript, resume, and verification of accredited bachelor’s degree. We will also contact you for a 15 minute video interview after the online application has been submitted.
Please note that we have a number of funding packages, available on a competitive basis, and some have separate applications. FLAS Fellowships are due January 3, and the Global at Home GRA program (partnership with GT Residential Life) is due January 15. All applicants are automatically considered for our in-house GRAs. We might have additional opportunities coming up; please monitor our website for updates! (grad.modlangs.gatech.edu)
If you haven’t signed up for our mailing list, I definitely encourage you to do so, so you can get reminders about deadlines and updates about new opportunities. You can sign up here.
If you have general questions about graduate study, admissions, or career planning, you can also schedule a 20 minute consultation with the ML career advisor and Assistant Director of Graduate Programs, Dr. Jenny Strakovsky (strakovsky@gatech.edu), or with our Director of Graduate Studies and Associate Professor of Spanish, Dr. Juan Carlos Rodriguez (jrodriguez40@gatech.edu).
Thank you again for your interest in the program! If there are any questions I can answer about our courses, study abroad, or other curriculum, please let me know!
Best wishes,
(YOUR NAME)
