About Me
Orion Allgaier graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology’s School of City and Regional Planning in 2022. At Georgia Tech, Orion gained the skills needed to help cities thrive by learning ways to build livable, resilient communities. He intends to devote his career to help cities – and the complex stakeholders within them – transition away from fossil-fuel based economies, mitigate and respond to global climate change, and bring numerous co-benefits such as improved air and water quality, resilience of essential services, and economic development.
Prior to Georgia Tech, Orion received a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Public Health from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, where he later served as a Research Project Lead with the Watershed Institute. There, Orion led a group of researchers to quantify the risk of ambient exposure to airborne particulates (PM2.5) around industrial silica sand operations. His group ensured regulatory compliance, informed nearby communities, and protected the health of workers and residents around silica sand sites and facilities.

Innovation: Orion believes that it requires innovative solutions and out-of-the-box thinking to tackle some of the world’s most wicked problems (i.e. global climate change, racial inequality, poverty, etc.). Orion is not afraid to challenge the status-quo or to ask hard questions. He will do all he can to bring authenticity and creativity to the forefront.
