What made you pursue chemical engineering as a profession?

In high-school I was debating between Chemistry and Chemical Engineering since I was very good at Chemistry and Math. After some discussions with my high-school teachers, I decided to pursue Chemical Engineering as it seemed more applied. After taking my first classes at college, my passion for ChBE grew as I get to know better how we can tackle real-world challenges across different sectors, all while working together with a diverse group of people.

What is your favorite chemical engineering class to teach?

I have taught (so far) 11 different ChBE classes, and if I have to pick one, it’s always the one that I am assigned to teach for the first time (right now ChBE 3225). I don’t have a favorite per se, but I would never say no to ChBE 2100 (or Thermo, or ChBE 4510, or Kinetics, …)

What is your top piece of advice for students?

One of the aspects that I love teaching at Tech is that we are surrounded with exceptionally brilliant and inquisitive minds. My advice to all of you is to never stop asking questions, and never be afraid to explore new areas of interest. Stay always curious and never stop learning. In the field of chemical engineering, as in many others, technology and knowledge are constantly evolving. Also, embrace challenges and seek opportunities to expand your skillset and expertise.

What is a hobby you like to engage in during your free time?

Right now, I am learning French with the help of Duolingo, and on my way to reach the 1000 day streak.
