(Asynchronous Online KOR 3001 UA) I love the variety in the homework and the types of exams we were given. It made learning fun and interesting instead of stagnant and boring. The course was straightforward, and I learned so much from this class (while having fun doing it!). The projects were an enjoyable addition, and I appreciate that heritage speakers were able to do more written work instead of speaking work.
(Asynchronous Online KOR 3001 UA) I have now taken 3 of Prof. Chang’s Korean courses, and I have loved all of them. They have been some of my favorite classes I’ve taken during my time at GT, and a huge reason for that is because of Prof. Chang. Her feedback on homework/exams is so constructive, encouraging, and helpful, and I appreciate that she is honest in her feedback. A lot of learning in language classes is practicing, making mistakes, and learning from those mistakes, and Prof. Chang made that process enjoyable instead of hurtful. She really cares for her students, and I will miss her teaching so much!! I will always remember our small conversations about various extracurricular things, and I hope the best for Prof Chang in the future!
(Asynchronous Online KOR 2001) I LOVED THAT EVERYTHING WAS ON CANVAS AT THE START OF THE YEAR. I am taking a lot of classes this semester, and I can’t emphasize just how helpful the organized course schedule was. It took off so much stress, and I could finish assignments early when I had very heavy weeks.
I think Professor Chang’s greatest strength is the way in which she engages her students! It’s really clear from the get go that she genuinely cares about what her students want from the course. She consistently asked us throughout the semester about how we thought one assignment went, or whether we liked this one activity, and she took those answers into consideration. I also really appreciate how patient she is, as well as her flexibility even with assignments. I think she’s a very gentle and kind professor, but at the same time she definitely makes sure you learn the content through steady practice and consistent reiteration. I think she is such an effective teacher, and I loved having her as my professor this semester!! :-))
She is everything you could want in a professor: smart, caring, enthusiastic, funny, compassionate, approachable, invested. She is so sweet, and I look forward to having her again in the fall for KOR 2001!
I loved this class! Probably my favorite language class that I have ever taken. I hope to take all four semesters (and beyond) of Korean with Professor Chang!!!
Dr. Chang is one of those professors who is literally perfect in every way. How dare CIOS even ask this question!
Dr. Chang is the best professor! She cares so much about all of her students. She is an exceptional teacher and goes out of her way to help her students in any way. I couldn’t ask for a better professor! Dr. Chang is truly such a nice person who is so passionate about teaching. I highly recommend taking her class!!
She is clearly very knowledgeable about Korean, based on how well she’s able to convey a concept. She’s very good at turning an abstract word in Korean into English using linguistics, even if students don’t know linguistics.
Flexibility during teaching, if the class needed more time or quickly understood the material, the rate of the class changed accordingly.
She was very prepared and knew everything about what she was teaching us.
The professors did well into adjusting the rate of the class, based upon how well the students had grasped the materials for every unit.
Even though the class was online, Chang SSN was very enthusiastic and made the class engaging and fun.
The homework feedback on writing was very helpful. Also, forcing us to record ourselves reading helped me with pronunciation and speaking faster.
It was so fun to learn a language like this! I think I wasn’t expecting to enjoy the class this much (especially since I joined quite last minute), but in the end it was honestly so good to participate and learn more about this language.
She is a great teacher hopefully she will be able to teach and educate other students cause she was amazing
The quick response to emails in the professor was very good. She made very detailed corrections to our writing homework, which made it easy for me to intentionally write something that I never heard/read before to learn how to properly say it.
